I'm doing a walking event challenge with Garmin for the next three months. The challenge is to have 91 miles of walking events between July 1 and Sept 30.
I'm trying to keep ahead of the game. That way if there's a bad day, where I can't do a walk for some reason, oh, say, it's 90+ degrees for example, I don't wind up behind.
I'm at 8.02 miles so far. Still ahead!
I have been bad about my PT. sigh. back started feeling it at .41 miles in today's walk. and it wasn't any kind of Personal Best (PB from now on). Took over 26 minutes to do today's 1.11 miles. 24+ minute mile. Ick. But it's HUMID out there right now. But I did it, with spazzy back.
I'm gonna find out if treadmill workouts count for walk events. If they do, then I will be able to do Oct-Dec's event, with no issue. Since there's a treadmill at the new house. A girl can hope, right?
I've discovered that I do better with some kind of goal when it comes to exercise. I mean a concrete "Get 91 miles of walking" sort of goal. It's not ambiguous. If I walk 91 miles it will be because I got out there and walked them. Weight loss goals are way too amorphous. IF I do the food thing right, IF I do the exercise thing right, IF IF IF IF then MAYBE. But the IF isn't shapeless for a walking goal.
:)
I just created 'workouts' for my PT. Concrete start/stop for that. I hope it will help, for it to be recorded somewhere.
Gonna try it out right now.
